Homemade Egg Pasta

Why do we always buy noodles when it is so easy to make them at home? Be creative and make noodles in any shape you can think of. How about some Heartie Noodles for your loved one on Valentine’s Day?

I always thought it must be tricky to do pasta at home and never really wasted a thought on doing it on my own. Why even? Noodles are cheap. But then it was Valentine's Day and I wanted to make a very special dinner just for my husband and me and had no time to order heart shaped noodles on the internet anymore. So I felt it was DIY time!

The reason you don't see any heart shaped noodles in the video and on the pictures is simple - I really had  no time nor having the balls to record it :-D

Basically all you need are some regular cookie cutters or maybe even some fondant cutters. And that's it!

Homemade Egg Pasta
Ingredients
  • 3 1/4 cups flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • salt
Instructions
1. Take a bowl and add the flour, the eggs, the olive oil and season with a pinch of salt. 2. Knead it until it becomes a dough (for approx. 10 minutes). If it is too dry, add some water. But be careful. A well made dough does not stick to the fingers. 3. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.4. Now roll out the dough. If you don’t have a pasta maker that’s alright. With Pasta Maker: Set the pasta machine on its widest settings and roll a lump of pasta dough through it. Then click the machine down a few settings and roll it through it again. Repeat this until you are satisfied with its thicknessWithout Pasta Maker: Try to get your dough thin enough so you can make pasta out of it! That means….rolling, rolling, rolling! After this step you are ready to make your own pasta. Be creative! You can use any cookie cutter or just make some ribbon noodles.
