Everyone is able to do some regular meatballs! So be different! Fill them with cheese and ham and be the meatball hero!
Okay, okay - enough slogans. This is my husband's recipe. Yeah you know by now he is stuffing literally everything with cheese :-D But I am totally fine with that.
These meatballs filled with ham and cheese are a great way to surprise your guests. The melted cheese tastes heavenly good. We have used regular gouda this time, but I am sure every other cheese works fine too.

The only tricky part when serving them on a party is that the cheese will cure easily when the surrounding is too cold. So if you have hotplate that's perfect. But you don't necessarily need one - you could also serve them with rice or french fries as a regular lunch/dinner.

Cordon Bleu Meatballs
Ingredients
- 2 cups ground meat
- 1/2 onion
- 1 tsp. mustard
- 1 egg
- salt, pepper
- 3 slices ham
- 6 cubes cheese
Instructions
1. Cut onions into thin bits. Put the ground meat into a bowl, add the egg, onion, salt, pepper and mustard and mix it well.2. Form 6 meatballs out of the ground meat mix. Afterwards, cut the cheese and ham into cubes.3. Take one piece of ham and wrap it around one piece of cheese. Then press it into the meatball. Make sure you seal the meatball well after adding the ham and cheese, so it wont fall to pieces during the frying process.4. Now heat oil in a pan and fry the meatballs until they are evenly browned on both sides. Use a lid so the cheese melts.
Note: You can keep the meatballs warm in the oven afterwards so the cheese will stay melted. If you want your meatballs as partyfood, why not making the balls a littlebit tinier so you can pin them on spits of wood afterwards.
